Ironworkers fabricate, erect, hoist, install, repair and service structural ironwork, precast concrete, concrete reinforcing materials, curtain walls, ornamental iron and other metals used in the construction of buildings, bridges, highways, dams and other structures and equipment. They are employed by construction ironwork contractors.
Ironworker – Generalist
Ironworkers reinforce buildings, highways, bridges, and other large structures with steel supports. They also reinforce concrete with metal bars or wire material for construction. Some ironworkers do fabrication work in factories, while others work outdoors on construction sites. They can be involved in manufacturing, construction, demolition, salvaging, and maintenance work.
